Airbnb cleaning checklist for turnovers
Most bad reviews about cleanliness come from one missed thing: hair in the shower, a full bin, crumbs in the toaster. A checklist your cleaner ticks on every turnover makes the standard the same whoever does the clean, and gives them something to point to when a guest disagrees.

What to put on it
- Kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms as separate sections
- Tasks in the order they are done, so the sheet follows the cleaner around
- The checks guests notice: under beds, inside the fridge, hair in drains
- A restock list with quantities, so “toilet paper” means “two per bathroom, four spare”
- The house name, so a cleaner with several places never mixes them up
Getting it right
- Write it with your cleaner, not for them. They know what gets missed.
- Print a stack and keep them in the cleaning cupboard with a pen.
- Ask for a photo of the finished checklist after each turnover. It takes ten seconds and settles disputes.
- Update it after every cleanliness complaint so the same thing is never missed twice.
Questions
- How long should an Airbnb turnover take?
- Roughly two to three hours for a two-bedroom place with laundry done on site. A checklist is how that time stays predictable.
- Does the checklist go to guests?
- No. The cleaner checklist prints for your crew only and never appears in the guest guidebook or a guest link.
